  Landscape Watering Guidelines

The following guidelines are for established plants (1 year for shrubs, 3 years for trees). Less water is needed during cool or rainy weather. Additional water is needed for new plantings or unusually hot or dry weather. Drip times are typically 2 hours or more for each watering.

Water to the outer edge of the plant's canopy and to the depth indicated.

Watering frequency will vary depending on the season, plant type, weather, and soil.

The booklet Watering by the Numbers provides step-by-step information on watering your landscape. Contact your water conservation office for a free copy, or check out the new online, interactive version at wateruseitwisely.com.
