  SMARTSCAPE LANDSCAPE TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS

Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Dates: September 14 - October 7, 2010
Time: 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Avondale Municipal Operation Service Center (location will be emailed upon registration)

Smartscape is a training and certification program created specifically for nursery and landscape professionals in Central Arizona. Smartscape workshops are designed to provide training and solutions on a wide range of topics encountered in the landscape industry.

The Smartscape program is endorsed by statewide landscape organizations and is sponsored by the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association.

Sept. 14 - Landscape Design and Renovation
Sept. 16 - Soils, Plants & Water
Sept. 21 - Desert Adapted Plants
Sept. 23 - Plant Selection and Installation and Solutions to Plant Problems
Sept. 28 - Drip Irrigation Design and Installation
Sept. 30 - Maintaining Desert Adapted Plants
Oct. 5 - Landscape Water Management and Irrigation Controllers
Oct. 7 - Test Review and Garden Tour

Registration is limited to the first 60 paid applicants, and to no more than five persons per company.

Energy and water efficient landscaping, also known as Xeriscape, is an increasingly marketable commodity. Becoming a skilled Smartscape professional will improve your ability to provide quality service to your customers or employer, enhance your business image, and allow you the opportunity to create beautiful and efficient landscapes compatible with our desert communities.

Smartscape is presented as a series of eight 2 1/2 -hour workshops. Each workshop focuses on a specific topic including:

The instructor for each workshop is an acknowledged expert in the subject matter that is being presented and is qualified by virtue of both education and professional work experience.

All participants who successfully complete the workshops receive a certificate proving that they have completed the Smartscape training.

Smartscape is presented in both the Phoenix and Tucson areas.
