  SMARTSCAPE LANDSCAPE TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS

February 22 through March 17, 2010:
Spring Session
Smartscape is a training program for nursery and landscape professionals designed to encourage consistent horticultural practices compatible with the Sonoran Desert. The program is endorsed by statewide landscape organizations.

The Spring 2010 Smartscape class will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm from February 22 through March 17, 2010. Classes will be held at:

Energy and water efficient landscaping, also known as Xeriscape, is an increasingly marketable commodity. Becoming a skilled Smartscape professional will improve your ability to provide quality service to your customers or employer, enhance your business image, and allow you the opportunity to create beautiful and efficient landscapes compatible with our desert communities.

Smartscape is presented as a series of eight 2 1/2 -hour workshops. Each workshop focuses on a specific topic including:

Landscape Design and Renovation

Drip Irrigation Design and Installation

Soils, Plants, and Water

Water Management and Irrigation Controllers

Desert Adapted Plants

Maintaining Desert Adapted Plants

Plant Selection and Installation

Solutions to Plant Problems


The instructor for each workshop is an acknowledged expert in the subject matter that is being presented and is qualified by virtue of both education and professional work experience.

All participants who successfully complete the workshops receive a certificate proving that they have completed the Smartscape training.

Smartscape is presented in both the Phoenix and Tucson areas.

The Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) is a voluntary, non-profit corporation established by municipalities in Maricopa County for the development of urban water resources policy.
