The Transfer and Transportation of Water in Arizona

The transfer and transportation of water has played an important role in Arizona’s water management. One question for Arizona’s water future is how policymakers, water users, and stakeholders will approach the issue of “water transfers” and the transportation of water in the coming years and decades. In light of continuing drought and a recently proposed controversial transfer in Mohave County, water transfers will be an issue of increased interest.

As water transfers return to the forefront, AMWUA has published an analysis on the subject. The Transfer and Transportation of Water in Arizona looks at the history of transfers in the state, categories of transfers, and some of the impacts of transfers now and in the future.
